Championship Golf in the Ozarks Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course

Buffalo Ridge has been transformed by the guiding hands of visionary conservationist Johnny Morris and renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio, who redesigned the course layout to immerse players into the striking nature around them. Praised as a top golf course in the region, the 18-hole championship course showcases the charm of the Ozarks with rich native grasses, natural rock formations, caves and creeks, lakes and waterfalls and free-ranging North American bison from nearby Dogwood Canyon Nature Park.

1001 Branson Creek Blvd, Hollister, MO 65672

Buffalo Ridge is closed through June 1, 2025 for a greens renovation project. These exciting improvements will enhance the playability of the greens, green surrounds, and greenside bunkers.

HOLE-BY-HOLE

As you prepare to experience the splendor that is Big Cedar Golf, take a hole-by-hole tour to get a taste of the courses that make up America’s Nature Golf Destination.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 1 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 1 · Par 5

The opening hole at Buffalo Ridge provides a scenic start to the round with North American bison roaming just to the left of the fairway and a scenic view of the Ozarks in the foreground. This downhill par 5 offers a generous landing area off the tee and is reachable in two shots for longer hitters, but the bunkers that guard the green must be avoided. This is a classic opening par five with risks and rewards.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 1 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge
Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 2 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 2 · Par 4

Hole number 2 is a strong par 4 with a slight dogleg left (be sure to check out the cave on the left after leaving the tee box). Finding the fairway is the key to scoring well on this hole. With an accurate and long tee shot you will still have a middle iron shot to a green that is protected by a bunker on the left.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 2 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge
Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 3 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 3 · Par 4

A fairly straight par 4, aim your tee shot just left of the fairway bunkers and the hole will turn slightly left off of the bunkers. The approach shot is slightly downhill to a green with a back right bunker and a sharp falloff behind the green.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 3 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge
Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 4 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 4 · Par 3

The first par 3 requires a high and soft shot to the center of the green. Any shot left of the green will go into a hazard left of the green. Bunkers protect the front and back left portions of the green. There is a bank just right of the green that will sometimes allow balls hit in the direction to still find the playing surface.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 5 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 5 · Par 4

This par 4 offers a stunning view from an elevated tee down the fairway with a beautiful crystal clear water filled rock quarry on the right. A tee shot too long down the right side can find the water hazard. A very accurate iron shot is a must into this well-protected green.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 6 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 6 · Par 4

The shortest par 4 on the course calls for a fairway wood, hybrid or long iron off the tee to find the short grass. The fairway bunkers must be avoided in order to attack the well-bunkered elevated green complex.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 7 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 7 · Par 3

Maybe the hardest and most intimidating par 3 on the golf course, finding the green is a must. Any shot to the right or long finds the water hazard and missing the green to the left makes for an impossible up and down. A par here feels like a birdie.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 7 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge
Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 8 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 8 · Par 5

This par 5 requires attention because of its beautiful cascading water feature all along the left and woods down the right. A strong second shot still leaves you with a severe-uphill approach shot to the green, which is protected by bunkers along the left side. The green has a slight false front.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 8 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge
Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 9 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 9 · Par 3

The finishing hole on the front nine plays uphill to a large undulating green with a distinct back right shelf. The green is well-guarded by bunkers all around except for a bailout area on the right front.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 10 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 10 · Par 4

This great picturesque par 4 requires a slight draw down the right side to avoid a large bunker complex on the left side of the fairway. However, long hitters must also beware of the two strategically placed fairway bunkers on the right side closer to the green. The green is well-guarded by deep bunkers on the left.

Hole 11 · Par 3

This par 3 is carved right out of a hillside and sits alongside a beautiful natural backdrop to the left side of the green. It is well protected by bunkers to the left and short on the right.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 12 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 12 · Par 4

This demanding par 4 offers beautiful views of the Ozarks and a cavernous nature-filled drop-off to the left. Roaming North American bison can be seen in the distance. A well-hit drive still leaves you with a long second shot to a green that is protected by numerous well-placed bunkers.

Hole 13 · Par 4

This natural par 4 takes you down and around through a ravine. The large fairway bunker on the left must be avoided off the tee. For the long hitter, two fairway bunkers on the right side must also be avoided in order to reach the green on the second shot. The green is long and deep with one bunker short right and multiple bunkers back left.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 14 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 14 · Par 5

This is a stunning, picturesque and demanding par 5 for the tee shot, lay-up and approach shot. There's a large and beautiful flowing creek that runs the entire length of the hole down the right side and crosses in front of the green. Exposed ancient table rock formations encircle the green to the right with large, expansive bunkers protecting the left side. Hitting this green in three is a challenge and a must in order to score par. It's a world-class par 5.

Hole 15 · Par 4

Enjoy a beautifully framed tee shot from high up on the mountainside to a landing area down below that is well protected by bunkers on the left and a meandering stream on the right. The green is protected by a huge false front, bunkers to the right and two distinct tiers on the green that demands a precise approach shot.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 16 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 16 · Par 4

Well-placed bunkers on both the right and left side of the fairway require a precise tee shot that is slightly uphill. Once in the fairway, your approach shot is into an elevated three-tiered green that makes putting quite a challenge. The green is framed on the left side by beautiful, natural table rock formations.

Hole 17 · Par 3

From an elevated tee you stare straight at a daunting open cave directly behind the green with water gushing out of the cave that runs alongside the right of the green and crosses in front of the green. The green is also protected by bunkers in front and on the left side. This is a beautiful, but very challenging par 3.

Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 17 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge
Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course - Hole 18 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 18 · Par 5

The finishing hole is a par 5 that takes in all the beauty that the Ozarks has to offer. This tee shot must carry a huge section of the Ozark mountain terrain and then cross over numerous bunkers all along the left side of the fairway. The right side is framed by a long expansive rock bluff wall. Then the layup must thread the needle to a narrow gap between the bunkers on the left and trouble on the right. The approach shot is difficult to get up close because of the slope in the green. This is a classic par 5 finishing hole.
